Shaggy: One of LAYERED’s earliest rug designs and a timeless classic in the collection. This traditionally hand-knotted shaggy rug from Greece is made of 100% New Zealand wool and features a soft, long pile that creates a pleasant feel and a timeless appearance. It is crafted following a 2,000-year-old Greek tradition, where the wool is washed in waterfalls, giving each rug a lively and natural expression.

Please note: The Mocha Melange colorway is crafted from completely undyed wool, reflecting the organic variations of natural shearing. Because the yarn is left in its natural state, every piece is entirely unique. Please note that natural shifts in tone will occur, meaning the appearance will vary slightly from rug to rug.

Experience the material in hand. Hand-tufted rugs have a denser, more substantial feel, while flatweaves are lighter and more relaxed—each shaping the overall comfort and expression of your space.

2. Observe the shifting light

Place the sample in your space and follow it from morning to evening. Notice how the tones shift with the light, from cooler daylight to a warmer, softer glow.

3. Assess the composition

View the sample alongside your furniture, flooring, and textiles. Consider how the colors and textures interact to create a balanced, cohesive interior.

As a natural material, the rug may shed slightly initially, but this gradually diminishes with regular care. Wool is renewable, biodegradable, and naturally resistant to dirt, making it a durable and sustainable choice. Regular vacuuming without a brush helps preserve its softness and longevity. For a deeper clean, professional flat washing is recommended.
