Shaggy Stripe and Checked – A study in geometric precision
One of LAYERED's first designs, here reinterpreted in geometric patterns and a deeper color palette. Shaggy Stripe and Shaggy Checked take bold checks and bands and render them in long, generous piles.
Each piece is made in Samarina, Greece where the Greek artisans have kept this special craft alive for centuries – once the undyed wool has been handwoven, each rug is submerged in rushing, ice-cold water within man-made waterfalls designed to replicate the natural mountain streams.

Rooted in a Scandinavian long-pile design dating back to 15th-century Norway, the LAYERED design team has reimagined the traditional rya in a contemporary design. The result is an authentic piece of craftsmanship where traditional weaving meets modern Scandinavian aesthetics, designed to add warmth, depth, and timeless character to any space.
Handwoven in Bahdoi, India, from 100% New Zealand wool, the choice of material is central to the collection's expression, selected for its natural resilience and unique ability to maintain volume and shape over time. Each rug is defined by a distinct 50 mm pile, providing a rich, tactile texture.
